After the first victory of the European team MAD Lions during the first day of 2021 MSI, jungler Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla answered our questions.

Hello Elyoya and thank you for accepting this interview. Congratulation for your first win on your first MSI game. How do you feel?
Elyoya : Thank you so much, I’m feeling good right now, I mean, yeah I’m feeling great because we won.

To dive in, what do you expect from this MSI, we know that some of your teammates said that you're here with no pressure but you're here to show that you're amongst the best teams in the world, what do you expect from this MSI?
Yeah, I mean, we come with not much pressure, but the expectation is to win it all in the end like I think we're a really good team and we have more than a real chance to win it all, so, even if we have not much pressure on ourselves we're here to win it all.

This MSI is quite particular, because we can see the meta in the jungle and on the lane changed a little bit, for example now Lee Sin in on lanes, we've seen Kindred today as well as Rumble, do you think we'll have a big change in the meta or junglers like Hecarim Nidalee or Udyr will continue to be played?
I think the jungler meta will change a bit since it added some new champs, like Rumble Morgana Kindred Lee Sin these champions are now buffed so they're way better, but I would say that the old champions are still in the meta so same for Udyr, maybe not Hecarim he got really nerfed but yeah I think those champions are still in the meta for sure.

Taking a little step back from MSI how did you feel the transition between European Masters and Regional League to LEC?
I would say that the biggest difference for me was the pressure, I had way more pressure on me or my team. Because I was coming into a team that already did pretty well last split. So I had kinda lot of pressure I would say so I’d say this would be the biggest difference, in terms of gameplay this is for sure a step up but I didn't feel like the difference was so high. It was not something I expected, the thing I think caught me off guard was the pressure I would say.

You still manage to get control over this pressure, as we could see during the Finals. Now to get back about MSI there's a lot of powerful teams, for example we know that DAMWON is seen as the favourite, who are you looking forward to face?
We are for sure looking forward to face either RNG or DAMWON, even C9, I think they're the three best teams right now, I mean apart from us, maybe not C9, I mean I think they're pretty good but I think RNG and DAMWON are for sure and those are the two teams I wanna play against the most.

I guess you see DAMWON and RNG a bit higher than C9 for example.
Yeah.

What in your opinion places them a bit above C9?
I would say they just play every stage of the game better than them, so yeah I don't think there's anything in particular that they do better, it's pretty much everything.

I just wanna go back about the meta. Is this a meta that you like, or is this not a meta that you enjoy playing? Because we've seen in the early season that you're a very aggressive player, and now it looks a bit more oriented towards control and helping lanes, do you prefer an aggressive meta, a meta like the one we're having, or something else?
I really do not mind the meta, I think I can adapt pretty well to both metas so I’m completely fine with the meta. I think that these meta actually benefit us even though I like to play carry junglers, I think that playing Udyr Volibear this kind of champion also benefits our team a lot because they're really aggressive and enable us. I would say that the meta doesn't matter for us because right now we're in a really good shape.

Among the four junglers of the major regions, including you, where do you rank yourself?
I'm not sure to answer this question. Because I haven't faced them in a match, so I cannot really answer this question because what you're gonna see from outside is not really what the player gives because I’m sure that Wei shotcalls for his team, same for Canyon and probably also Blaber. So I think this question is really tricky to answer. But in terms of performance, I mean I would probably place Canyon first then I would place Wei and then me that's my guess. But as I said I’m not completely sure because I didn't even played them in a match, it's really hard to decide this one.

Looking a bit forward after the MSI, you will come back in Europe as the reigning champion, which team will be the biggest threat coming back in Europe for regular season ?
I think it's gonna be G2, G2 are gonna step up and they're gonna show a way more scary performance than they've shown this Spring Split. So I really think it's gonna be G2.

What do you think they lacked of in the Spring? Because you no-matched them in the playoffs, which was a bit surprising as they were seen as the favourite, what do you they lacked of, and what are your cards to keep your crown?
I mean I don't think they had problems, I think they just had really bad weeks of scrims and practice, and the bad practice translated into the game but I don't think there was a specific problem, or anything. I think they were just not on the same page I would say, they were doing things so random, not random, but they were not coordinated at all, it's my guess.

Finally, last words are yours if there is anything you wanna say to the fans here in France.
I'd like to thank everyone for supporting us and to keep cheering for us, the support of the community is really helpful, it's something that I value a lot and at the moment I’m having a lot of answers and noone is giving negative comments to us, I really appreciate it. I think it's really great, I’m really grateful to have it.
